Review: Sutherland's Secret

Sutherland's Secret Sutherland's Secret by Sharon Cullen
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

***I received a free copy from Netgalley.com in exchange for my honest review.

Another promising story that turned into nothing more than a sappy mess. I was really engrossed in this story, very much interested in Ella's story, but after hearing it I felt like the author just gave up on Ella having any kind of real character. I mean, her personality seemed amazing, just not for someone who went through the torture that she did.

On the flip side, the writing was pretty great, mostly historically accurate, and the Scottish brogue was spot on. I enjoyed reading this book, but it just fell so far of its intended mark that I had no choice but to give it 2 stars.

Review: How to Bewitch an Earl

How to Bewitch an Earl How to Bewitch an Earl by Ally Broadfield
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I had such high hopes for this book. It started off wonderfully, and I even liked when our main characters finally hooked up. However, the book took a turn and became about their relationship and less about the mystery that furst drew me in.

I also have an issue with how the author madebit seem like Isa was about to suffer from some sort of fever or something from the branch scratch, then seemed to just drop the idea but keep writing in the same assumption.

I received a free ARC from Netgalley.com for my honest review.
